Jason Decremer, PhD – is now the full-time leader of MissionCIT’s Testing and Strategy Practice. Formerly, Director of Certification for the Connecticut Commission on Fire Prevention and Control. He was responsible for over 40 levels of national certification testing for approximately 20,000 firefighters statewide.
He has the unique profile to be an expert in a theoretical understanding of curriculum development and administration backed by 20+ years in the fire service, including holding rank as a chief officer, training officer, administrative budget officer, and recruitment & retention coordinator.
He has extensive experience with recruitment and retention practices, curriculum development, and test construction. He is a regular committee member for IFSTA Publications and also a reviewer for Jones & Bartlett Publications, lending his expertise in instructor development, fire officer, and hazardous materials. He has written articles for Firehouse Magazine and the National Volunteer Fire Council, including a webinar targeting the development of training programs.
In addition, a highly successful grant writer at both the state and local levels. Dr. Decremer has taught courses internationally and is an instructor for the International Association of Fire Chiefs. As a fire training program manager for Connecticut, he developed and revised several national certification courses.
He also is an adjunct professor at the University of New Haven and Goodwin University, teaching courses he authored in Homeland Security and Fire Administration. He received his Ph.D. in public policy and administration from Walden University and a master’s degree in curriculum design and education from the University of Phoenix.
